If you like shopping at Costco you’ll be happy to know they have the best-frozen lasagnas. This delicious lasagna can feed the entire family or just one person. Below are detailed instructions to teach you how to cook frozen lasagna from Costco in the oven, convection oven, microwave, air fryer or deep fried. Plus you can read my review and I’ll show you how to take it up a notch!
What Does Lasagna From Costco Taste Like?
There are two different kinds of Kirkland Brand frozen lasagnas you can buy at your local Costco warehouse. Beef lasagna and Italian Sausage Lasagna. Is Costco frozen lasagna good? Speaking for myself, the Italian lasagna is much more delicious. I like the little extra kick of sausage in my homemade lasagna so it’s not surprising I like it in my frozen lasagna.
Both lasagnas are cheesy with a meat sauce. They have a layer of ricotta cheese as well. They’re definitely a great alternative to making your own lasagna.
The beef lasagna is 6 lbs and the Italian sausage lasagna is a two-pack of 3 lb lasagnas. Either one will feed a large group! They are definitely a crowd pleaser. The Italian one is more of an average-sized frozen lasagna.
How To Cook A Single Serving Of Frozen Lasagna
Don’t want to cook a whole frozen lasagna? Not feeding a large crowd? You don’t have to! You can cut up your frozen Kirkland Signature lasagna into individual portions and just cook the portion you want to eat and freeze the rest.
Warning, cutting frozen lasagna is not easy. You might want to defrost your lasagna very slightly in the refrigerator for a few hours before cutting. It will not be totally defrosted but will be soft enough to get your knife through. You do not want to thaw your lasagna!
The two pack of sausage lasagna each have 6 servings. Pop the lasagna out of the container and place on a cutting board. Slice into 6 pieces by slicing down the middle then cut twice crossways to make 6 equal pieces. The beef lasagna should be cut into 12 pieces.
Wrap remaining pieces in plastic wrap and place them all in a ziplock freezer bag. Seal, label and place into the freezer for later.
Follow instructions below for each cooking method.
How To Cook A Frozen Kirkland Lasagna In The Oven
Cooking a frozen lasagna in a conventional oven (traditional oven) is the most common way of cooking. The cooking process is very easy.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F.
- Separate twin pack. Cook both or just one. Cut a 2″ slit with a knife in the film cover on the top of the tray.
- Place tray on a baking sheet then into on middle oven rack.
- Cook for about 50 minutes.
- Carefully remove the plastic film cover and continue cooking for about 15 minutes to brown the cheese.
- Check the internal temperature with a thermometer, which should reach 160°F before you remove it from the oven.
- Remove from oven and let rest for about 10 minutes.
Total cook time for frozen lasagna in the oven is 55-65 minutes.
To cook a single serving in the oven, place your frozen lasagna serving in a small baking dish. Cover with foil. Make sure the foil does not touch the top of the cheese on the lasagna. Cook for 35 minutes then remove the foil and cook for 5-15 minutes until the lasagna is 160°F and the cheese is melted. Your lasagna noodles should be soft and cooked through.
How To Cook A Frozen Costco Lasagna In The Convection Oven
If you want to cook your lasagna faster cook it on the convection oven setting on your oven. You can also cook it at the same time as any side dishes you need to cook. Cook time will not vary even if you add additional dishes in the convection oven.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Separate twin pack. Cut a 2″ slit with a sharp knife in the plastic film cover on the top of the tray.
- Place the tray on a cookie sheet then place on the oven rack.
- Cook for about 45 minutes.
- Carefully remove the plastic film cover and continue cooking for about 10-15 minutes to brown the cheese.
- Check the internal temperature, which should reach 160°F before you remove it from the convection oven.
- Remove from convection oven and let rest for about 10 minutes.
To cook a single serving in the oven, place your frozen lasagna serving in a small baking dish. Cover with foil. Make sure the foil does not touch the top of the cheese on the lasagna. Cook for 30 minutes then remove the foil and cook for 5-15 minutes until the lasagna is 160°F and the cheese is melted.
How To Cook A Costco Lasagna In The Air Fryer
All air fryers are different sizes. For most air fryers you will need to cut your lasagna in half to cook. You can also cook a single serving size this way.
- Remove your frozen lasagna from its box and main packaging and place it in its tray inside of your air fryer basket. Cut a slit in the top of the plastic cover. If you’re using half a lasagna, place it in an oven safe baking dish. Cover with foil and cut a 2-inch slit in the top to vent.
- Cook for 10 minutes at 250°F to allow it to almost defrost. This is important because the cheese will overcook if you try to cook it at full temperature the whole time.
- Increase the Temperature to 350°F.
- Cook for a further 15 minutes then remove the foil or plastic cover. Air fry until the cheese is bubbly and golden and the internal temperature is 160°F.
- Let rest for 10 minutes then serve.

How To Make Frozen Lasagna In The Microwave
You might need to cut the lasagna in half or smaller to accommodate your microwave. Remember not to put aluminum foil in the microwave. You will need to put smaller portions in a microwave safe dish and wrap tightly with plastic wrap. Cut a 2-inch slit in the top of the plastic wrap.
This recipe assumes you have a rotating microwave tray in your microwave. If you do not you will need to rotate your lasagna during cooking.
- Separate twin pack. Cut at 2 inches slit in film cover of one lasagna.
- Place the lasagna tray on the microwave rotating tray.
- Cook on high power for 10 minutes.
- Remove film cover. Reduce power level to 50% and cook for an additional 15 minutes until the internal temperature is 160°F and the cheese is bubbling.
- Let stand in the microwave for 5 minutes.
- Remove and allow to stand for 5 more minutes. Serve.
How To Make Fried Lasagna With Costco Lasagna
This fried lasagna recipe on FamilyDinners.com uses frozen Kirkland Italian sausage lasagnas. This is, in my opinion, the best way to eat lasagna!
- The first thing you will do is cut your frozen lasagna into ¼ serving size pieces. You will want to make sure these slices of lasagna are small pieces so they get cooked all the way.
- Egg and bread your lasagna according to instructions.
- Deep fry in oil until the outside is a medium to dark golden brown. Cooking time varies depending on the size of your lasagna and the temperature of the oil. You will be frying at a high temperature so it should only take a couple minutes to cook. Internal temperature of the lasagna should reach 160°F.
- Drain on a paper towel.
- Serve.
How To Take It Up A Notch
Plate your cooked lasagna with a little extra lasagna sauce for an even better dining experience! No need to spend a lot of extra time in the kitchen! You can make your own lasagna sauce or use a jar of marinara sauce. In a small saucepan over medium-high heat, warm a jar of marinara. Stir continually until the sauce begins to simmer. If you’re not ready to serve your kirkland lasagnas yet, reduce heat to medium-low and cover with a lid to prevent spills. Spoon about ⅛ cup of marinara onto your plate before placing your lasagna piece on top. Add more if you prefer.
What To Serve With Lasagna
- Serve an Italian side salad with fresh lettuce, black olives, tomatoes, onion, parmesan cheese, cauliflower, croutons and Italian dressing. I love this Italian salad and dressing recipe.
- Or make a garden side salad with fresh lettuce, mushrooms, carrots, onions, cucumbers, tomatoes and your favorite salad dressing.
- Serve a vegetable side dish like tender crisp broccoli or steamed broccoli.
- An easy Garlic French Bread or Garlic Knots recipe are essential as well!
Enjoy!
How To Store Leftover Lasagna
Leftovers should be wrapped tight with plastic wrap or transfered to an airtight container and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. It is not recommended to refreeze after you have cooked it.

Frequent Questions
No, there is no need to thaw a frozen lasagna before cooking. Frozen lasagna takes a long time to defrost so you’re better off cooking it from frozen.
Always cover frozen lasagna while cooking. You will uncover it for the last 15 minutes so the top layer of cheese can finish cooking. It should be a light golden color when it’s done.
Costco’s fresh lasagna can be found in the fresh refrigerator section in some Costco stores. Many grocery stores carry fresh lasagnas. The cooking instructions are different than the frozen lasagna instructions.
