It's that time of year where everyone goes crazy about getting their Spring Cleaning done! Let's make the Spring cleaning process a little easier with a few tips and tricks!! But first, let me be honest - I've been dreading my Spring Cleaning a bit this year, it just seems overwhelming. I feel like our house is a lot dirtier than normal. I guess three growing kids really make a difference in the accumulating mess! It probably doesn't help that my husband is a full-time graduate student and I'm a work at home mom barely keeping up with life. But it's time to buckle down and get things cleaned!
Tips & Tricks to Tackle Spring Cleaning
Get Organized: This is the BIGGEST help for Spring Cleaning. I always like to make sure I have a plan of attack that will make it easy to be quick and efficient with my Spring Cleaning. Step one - I make my list and then decide how I'm going to get 'er done!!! I've included a basic list for you to download to help you get organized and ready to clean your home this Spring!
Stock Up & Gather Supplies: It is so frustrating to be knee deep in a cleaning project and then realize that you're out of a certain cleaner or paper towels. Check your cleaning supplies and stock up on anything you're missing. This Spring I made a quick trip to Walmart to grab everything in one stop! Once you've got your supplies, gather everything into a nice little bucket so they are easy to haul from room to room as you clean!
Here's a peek at a few things in my cleaning bucket...
- Disinfecting Wipes - I use these everywhere, they just make life a little easier!!
- All-Purpose Spray - Right now I'm using Clorox Clean-Up for those big messes, just spray and wipe clean with this original cleaner and bleach!
- Toilet Bowl Cleaner - It's very important to me to have clean toilets; that's why I use Clorox Toilet cleaner, it removes tough stains and kills 99.9% of germs!
- Window Cleaner - Get rid of all those spots on my mirrors and windows! I love my reflection to be shiny and clear.
- Paper Towels - Duh!
- Toothbrushes, Sponges and Rubber Gloves - To get into all those hard to clean or hard to reach places and protect my sensitive hands while I clean!
- Broom and Dustpan - I like the mini one that is easy to tote around!! But you'll probably need to grab a full-size broom, vacuum and mop while you're cleaning, too!
Go Room by Room: It is impossible to get all the cleaning done in one day {unless your supermom}. So I like to break it up into more manageable tasks - this year I'm taking it room by room. You can start with the easiest or the hardest... I usually start with my least favorite rooms to clean - the bathroom!! Yikes. I always feel like I need to really deep clean our bathrooms, especially with youngsters.
Each room will typically need to have a load of laundry done to get everything nice and clean and fresh! I especially love to brighten up all of my whites and Clorox Splash-Less Bleach does a great job at removing tough stains, plus the no splash formula makes it easier to control so there are less splashes and spills! Double win!!
Get the Husband and the Kids Involved: There is no rule saying you have to do all the cleaning on your own! In fact, your kids will probably love being involved if you make it into a game or a challenge. One trick that has worked for me this year is I tell my kids what project we're working on and then they get to choose whatever music we listen to and we try to finish the project in a certain number of songs! It makes cleaning that much more fun!
Add Some Green or Pops of Color: Once the work is done, it's nice to add a little green here and there or some fresh flowers or lemons for a pop of color to make your home feel more like Spring! Now sit back and relax and enjoy the fresh, clean home you've created!
