I've been looking at my closet lately wondering how I managed to barely have enough tops to make it through 5 days before they have to be washed. It's been time to sew some more shirts. Sunday I sat down with the Day Tripper sewing pattern and whipped up this little number. It's perfect for lounging around or just having an average day.
Pattern:
Day Tripper Top by Shwin Designs (part of the Just Add Jeans Collection)
Fabric:
sweater knit, unknown origins
Pattern Options:
I chose short sleeves and the button tab. I just sewed the button to both layers and didn't make a button hole.
Size:
Medium tapered to a Large at the hips. There are instructions in the pattern for how to do this.
Elsewhere today:
Wow! Stef from the Girl Inspired sewed all 4 Just Add Jeans tops. Incredible! I can't decide which is my favorite!! See them here.

That shirt looks great on you Andrea! I printed it and taped it last night! I just cannot decide long or short sleeves!
Andrea says
Do both! I've got another long sleeve one and it's so comfortable!

Love this shirt! I need to make a few so I have something cute to wear after baby!
Andrea says
You do!!

Wow, that last photo ... gorgeous lady. The top looks great too 😉
Have printed all four patterns as well but now can't decide which one to start first...

I love the top and it looks great on you! I just made the long sleeve version of this yesterday using sweater knit and it is so comfortable! I can't wait to make more.

Girl. You are so cute. Love how to styled it with those glasses and leather jacket.
Andrea says
Thank you, Delia!

This turned out great! I know the pattern calls for ribbed knit for the hem and sleeve bands, but I see lots being made with the main fabric. Both look great, but does one work/wear better than the other?
Andrea says
Thank you! As long as your main fabric is really stretchy it will work fine (probably at least 50% stretch). Otherwise I'd stick to rib knit like the pattern suggests.

What length did you make? I'm really tall and can't decide if I need to add length ...
